Volunteer for Picnic

Greetings!

We are recruiting volunteers for the 2010 Pagan Picnic. Volunteers are needed beginning Friday, June 11th for setup, all the way through Sunday night about 6 p.m. for tear-down. It takes many volunteers to run an event this big, and we couldn't do it without them.

Below are a listing of possible jobs for volunteers. If you are interested in doing something particular, please email the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible so she can get you in touch with the appropriate coordinator. If you can only help for an hour, we are thrilled. If you can help for 2 hours or more, we will be kissing your feet! Many hands make light work. Won't you step up and volunteer today?

Bardic Circle

Strong, tireless backs are needed throughout several times during the weekend to help move and setup equipment, assist in getting bands and performers organized, and keep the cold water flowing at the Bardic Circle. If you've ever been a groupie or a stage hand in your mundane life, this job is for you!

Pageantry

If you've been to Picnic before, you've seen the rows of colorful flags lining vendor row, the Kidzone area, and Bardic Circle. Dozens of these flags must be placed before Picnic opens, and removed when picnic closes. Other signage also needs to be put in place at the Programming areas, ritual areas, and at the entrances to the park. If you can swing a hammer or mallet and handle a wire-tie, this job is for you! And because this job occurs only at the beginning and the end of the festivities, you will have the rest of the weekend to enjoy Pagan Picnic to its fullest!

Site Setup/Tear-down and Maintenance

Much of the work at picnic revolves around making sure there are no overflowing trash cans, that there is toilet paper in the porta-potties, that canopies are set up for registration and special guests, that hoses are run for water, etc. This is the grunt work that must be done, and is not the most glamorous thing to be doing. Yet, having people to do this work means that our Picnic guests have the best possible experience. Site volunteers are needed from before picnic starts and after picnic ends. Even an hour or two of your time will help assure success in this area of picnic.

Flier Distribution, Ad Sales, and Compiling the Program Book

Some jobs are purely administrative. This is one of them! We need people to distribute fliers to local (and non-local) businesses. Fliers can go up in coffee shops, bookstores, Pagan shops, college campuses, etc. Fliers will be available soon, and it's not too early to start publicizing our event! In addition, we are currently selling ads to cover the cost of the Program Book. Ads can be sold to the same businesses that will display our fliers. And speaking of the Program Book, once it is printed, it needs to be assembled, folded, and stapled. A workday is usually scheduled for this work. If you'd like to be part of that assembly team, please let us know! Every little bit helps!

Information Booth

The Information Booth needs people present throughout the entire Picnic to answer questions, take donations, and much more. If you would like to volunteer, please let us know!

Kidzone

Our Pagan Children are our future. For the last eight years, events have been offered on the Saturday of Picnic for our children. These activities are important to our community, but take special skill to put on. Not everyone likes to be with kids! If you have an idea for a great craft, want to help children with a craft, would like to help present one of the children's workshops, or can offer storytelling or a puppet show, we would like to hear from you!

These are just a few of our opportunities. If there's something you can offer that we've not listed, do not hesitate to contact us and talk to us about your ideas.
